vibescape — Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the Vibescape browser extension (“Vibescape,” “we,” “the extension”) handles information. Vibescape is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with themed layouts and settings you choose in the extension popup.
Summary
- We do not run our own servers to collect or store your personal data.
- Your preferences are saved locally in your browser on your device.
- We do not sell your data or use advertising/analytics SDKs inside the extension.
Information stored on your device
Vibescape saves settings using Chrome’s extension storage and, for faster
theme loading, localStorage on the new tab page. This data
stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. It may include:
- Selected theme
- Whether the extension is turned on or off
- Your list of favorited themes (if you use favorites)
You can remove this data by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension’s site data in Chrome (Settings → Extensions → Vibescape → Details → Clear data).
Permissions and how they are used
Vibescape requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage — to read and write the local settings listed above.
- tabs — to (1) detect when you are on Chrome’s new-tab surface so enabling Vibescape can apply correctly, (2) reload or navigate the active tab when you turn the extension off, and (3) open Google’s help article in a new tab when you choose the “hide Chrome footer” link in the popup.
-
search — to submit queries from the new tab search box
through Chrome’s search API (
chrome.search.query()), using your selected default search engine.
The extension does not request broad access to browse all websites you visit. It does not read page content on arbitrary sites.
Search on the new tab page
If you use the search box on Vibescape’s new tab page and submit a query,
the extension uses Chrome’s search API
(chrome.search.query()) to run the search through your
browser’s selected default search engine. Vibescape does not hardcode a
search provider and does not receive your search queries on our servers.
The search provider you use (for example Google, Bing, or DuckDuckGo)
processes the query under its own privacy policy.
Third-party services
Extension pages may load fonts from
Google Fonts
(fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com).
Google may process technical data (such as your IP address) when those
resources are requested. See
Google’s Privacy Policy.
Links in the extension may open external pages (for example, Chrome Help documentation). Those sites have their own policies.
Chrome Web Store
If you install Vibescape from the Chrome Web Store, Google processes installation and update information according to Google’s policies.
Children
Vibescape is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when the extension changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
